Dreadlocks

Wade celebrates his 10th Anniversary with the luckiest woman ever.

Wade celebrates his 10th Anniversary with the luckiest woman ever.

This handsome man is Wade Pallister. Wade has decided to cut off his dreadlocks. Yep. You read that right.

And here is why. He thinks it’s time. He’s pretty proud to be almost forty with that much hair. They’re heavy and they drag on the floor when he’s working. But really, the reason is Sandra.

Sandra is our dear, dear friend. Godmother to our youngest daughter, doula to both our girl’s births, permanent dinner guest, family photographer and dreadlock technician.

Yes, Sandra made those dreads on Wade’s head in 2001 and has maintained what she and Wade think of as “their hair” faithfully ever since, up until the last year when she’s been unable to lift her arms to do the dread maintenance any more.

So at the party on Sunday night, Wade is going to auction off the right to cut off each one of all 45 dreadlocks to raise money for the woman who brought those babies into being.

You can buy a dreadlock, the minimum bid is $20 a dread, more if you like. If we sell them all at a minimum bid, it would bring San $900 but I think this man has at least a $1000 head of hair, so spread the word!

To buy a dread, come to the party with cash in hand. If you can’t come or are not in Vancouver, simply click on “Donate“, then add a comment here on the website, or at happybirthdaysandra@gmail.com saying that your donation is to buy a dreadlock.

Our friends from Avalon Salon will be there to clean Wade up when everyone else is done the cutting – thanks Patty!

I’d like to buy one at $100. I intend to drag my teenage son along to the party on Sunday, and have him cut it off himself. I hope he gets the message…

Hey guys, we made a donation of $75 via the website and would like it to go towards one of those sexy dreads! Would love it if the great Sandra herself would do the honors on our behalf, but if it’s too painful for her to cut off all that hard work then someone else can do it 🙂 🙂 🙂 Love you all and soooo wish we could be there.

1 dread for us please ($30)
    Thanks!

What happens if he doesn’t sell all his dreds? Will he have to walk around lopsided? Embarrassing? Sandra can cut it for us please! We love you – and happy birthday!
